Groups
Health educators go to sober living facilities to provide health education through risk reduction sessions for women in recovery. Topics include HIV, STIs, Viral Hepatitis, substance use, and more.
Street Outreach
Health educators go out into the community and talk about HIV/STI prevention and testing, distribute safer sex kits (condoms, lubricants and educational materials), assist people in assessing their risks, and provide referrals to appropriate services.
Peer Network Volunteers
Female volunteers from the community work with health educators to conduct mobile outreach. Topics include HIV, STIs, Viral Hepatitis, substance use, condom use, and more.
Safer Sex Gatherings
Health educators host gatherings for women in homes or other community settings. They talk about HIV, Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), Viral Hepatitis, HIV testing, and prevention. Gatherings include food, games, and skills-building sessions on how to use condoms.
HIV Presentations
Staff members offer presentations for staff or clients of local agencies, businesses and organizations. Presentation material may include information on HIV, STIs, Viral Hepatitis, how and where to get tested, and prevention.
Role Model Stories
Staff members create printed, real-life short stories based on interviews with community members about their decision to change risky behaviors. |
